The issue of Gender Based Violence is a thorny issue and a contemporary issue that requires a multistakeholder approach to address it.#NoneButOurselves can emancipate women from violations of their rights and perpetual perpetration of Gender Based Violence.
The culture of fighting Gender Based Violence should permeate and percolate all the stratas in our societies.Abuse can be economic, emotional, sexual and physical. The fact that it tatters the self esteem of a human being is a cause for concern.
To end Gender Based Violence we should rope in traditional leadership support systems in rural communities because they are the custodians of Local customs, traditions and culture. In the workplace and in the labour movement both leaders and membership should be raised awareness on the importance of upholding peace and ubuntuism.
Sexual exploitation for the purposes of getting favours Quid pro Quo(something for something and nothing for nothing) should be eliminated.
In the Education circles promotion should be based on merit not thighs for high officials.Deployment for national duties like Census, Elections, Zimsec marking and other lucrative duties should be professionally selected
Women should speak out against trampling of their rights enshrined in the supreme law and other Conventions and treaties which ZIMBABWE is a signatory.
Moreso, nursing Teachers should be allowed to breastfeed their babies within the possible convenience times for the good of the baby not job. This post natal care even pre natal care needs grooming so that female Teachers beyond Amalgamated Rural Teachers UNION of Zimbabwe can claim their maternal rights.
Child marriages in Manicaland and Buhera is a disheartening issue.Little action is being taken legally and socially to protect the minor girl child. The boy who impregnates the boy is considered a sex champion whilst the impregnated girl is ridiculed even chased at home and eventually drops school, make an ABORTION even attempted suicide.Save women,Protect women,Fund women issues, Respond to women issues, Collect information about GBV,Act on GBV.
To end parents should also try to find adequate, secure accommodation for the kids.It is a form of violence to sleep in the same room with children above 2 years of age.
Boys and girls should bath and sleep separately.
